Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN Nurse Manager with NICU and pediatric leadership expertise and an active IL RN license for a pivotal hospital management role.

Responsibilities

  • Work in a hospital setting overseeing Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, and Pediatrics departments
  • Manage daily operations, patient care quality, staffing, hiring, scheduling, and budget for critical neonatal and pediatric care areas
  • Collaborate with neonatologists, pediatric specialists, and interdisciplinary teams
  • Day shift schedule, Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM (5x8 hours)
  • Floating required to other units or facilities within 50 miles as needed, possibly outside primary area of competency with team-based model
  • Responsible for policy development, compliance, and fostering a positive environment for critically ill pediatric patients and their families
  • Handle labor relations including collective bargaining and staff discipline
  • Utilize CCH records systems to execute management responsibilities
  • No block scheduling or special requests are permitted; all time off must comply with strict RTO policy (maximum 5 days, no more than 2 consecutive, no weekends or holidays)
  • Returning candidates must complete full recredentialing and orientation even if recently employed
  • Lab work must be completed within 72 hours of accepting the assignment
  • Candidates living within 75 miles are considered local; locals are accepted at a different pay scale

Requirements

  • Active RN license in Illinois required
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required
  • Minimum of five years of NICU nursing experience required
  • At least two years of nursing supervisory or charge nurse experience required
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
  • Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification or ability to obtain within 60 days of hire
  • Compliance with COVID-19 vaccination requirements
