Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Pediatric Cardiovascular ICU position requiring 2 years of pediatric cardiac ICU experience and a SC or compact RN license.

Details

  • Position is in a 29-bed Pediatric Cardiology Intensive Care Unit in a hospital setting
  • Patient population includes children with congenital heart disease requiring cardiac surgery, VADs, heart transplants, and advanced cardiac support
  • Ratios are typically 1:1 or 1:2 depending on patient acuity
  • Common procedures include cardiac surgery, VAD support, ECMO, CRRT, and cardiac catheterization
  • Unit utilizes Epic for charting
  • Night shifts, 3x12s from 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m.
  • Four weekend shifts required in a four-week schedule with holiday rotation
  • Requires floating within scope to meet unit needs

Requirements

  • Active SC or compact (multi-state) RN license required
  • Minimum 2 years of pediatric cardiac ICU experience required
  • Current PALS and BLS certifications from the American Heart Association required
  • ACLS certification preferred (AHA only)
  • Strong pediatric cardiac and cardiovascular ICU experience required
  • VAD (Ventricular Assist Device) experience highly preferred
  • Experience with Epic EMR preferred
  • Must provide SSN and driver's license for consideration
  • Candidates must live more than 60 miles from the facility to be eligible for travel pay
  • Previous permanent staff (including PRN) must be separated from the system for 1 year prior to applying

Additional Information

  • The unit is a Gold Beacon Award winner and referral center for major pediatric cardiac surgeries in South Carolina
  • Daily responsibilities include advanced cardiac and ventilatory support, ECMO, CRRT, and pediatric palliative care services
  • Comprehensive multidisciplinary team support is available including RNs, Patient Care Technicians, Respiratory Therapy, Pediatric Dietitians, and Pediatric Pharmacists
  • All beds in the unit are monitored
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Block scheduling may be accommodated at manager's discretion
  • All requested time off must be submitted with application; RTO over 7 days or including holidays requires special approval
  • Travelers may be assigned emergency response duties during hurricane season (June-November)
  • No travel pairs are accepted for this position
  • Professional modules (average 4 hours) must be completed prior to start
  • Scrub color requirements will be provided upon assignment
