Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a high-acuity PACU role requiring recent trauma experience and a NH or compact RN license.

Responsibilities

• Work in a high-acuity, high-volume PACU within a hospital setting
• Care for post-surgical patients across a wide range of surgeries including vascular, general, thoracic, gynecology, neuro, orthopedic, and transplants
• Variable day and night rotating shifts with start times at 0700, 0800, 0900, 1000, 1100, and 1900
• Overnight boarders may include ICU, step down, or med-surg patients
• Handles ventricular drains, art lines, central lines, vasoactive and sedative drips, chest tubes, and trachs
• No ICP monitoring in PACU; patients requiring it are transferred to ICU
• Environment described as high volume and controlled chaos, especially in evenings
• No local candidates accepted; must live at least 75 miles from the facility
• Responsibilities include caring for diverse post-op patients, including overnight ICU, step down, and med-surg boarders
• Strong teamwork and adaptability are required for success in this fast-paced unit

Requirements

• Active NH or compact RN license required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Must have recent Level 1 or comparable Level 2 trauma experience within the last 2 years
• Previous experience in ICU and/or high-acuity PACU strongly preferred
• Familiarity with managing lines, drains, and critical care medications
