Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Oncology position requiring an active IL license and at least one year of recent experience.

Responsibilities

• Position is located in a Medical Surgical Oncology unit within an acute care, Level I trauma, Magnet hospital
• Patient population includes adult medical-surgical and oncology cases
• Average daily census is 24 patients with 24 rooms or beds
• Shifts are days, with options for 3x12 or 4x12 hour schedules starting at 7:15 AM
• Weekend shifts required every other weekend
• No on-call required
• Floating within scope to other units as needed
• Cerner EMR is used and experience is preferred
• First-time travelers are accepted for this position
• Team members are expected to recognize and communicate abnormal lab values
• Applicants may request block scheduling directly with the manager
• Maximum of 5 days requested time off is preferred
• All solid color scrubs are permitted
• Free parking is available with permit completed during orientation
• Locals are accepted for this role with no radius restriction

Requirements

• Active IL RN license in hand or in the application process
• Minimum one year of recent RN experience required
• Chemo certification preferred but not required
• OCN and ONS/ONCC certifications preferred
• Required chemotherapy administration skills including IV push, administration of chemotherapy, body fluid handling post-treatment, continuous infusion, oral administration, cytotoxic spill management, and monitoring
• Required IV therapy and infusion skills such as port access, blood product administration, central line and PICC care, and starting IVs
