Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Med/Surg RN with BLS certification and at least 2 years of experience for day shift assignments.

Responsibilities

• Position is in a 32-bed Med/Surg unit specializing in innovative nursing practice and new technology adoption
• Day shift schedule with three 12-hour shifts per week from 7:00 to 19:00
• Every other weekend required along with some weekday shifts as needed
• Patient ratios are 1:6
• Required to work assigned holidays as part of the holiday rotation
• Hercules beds are used in the unit
• Unit focuses on new technologies and innovative nursing models, requiring adaptability and openness to change
• Expect to work one holiday if one falls within assignment; for multiple holidays, coverage requirement increases accordingly
• General RN orientation is provided every other Monday
• Drug screening includes strict zero-tolerance for THC, including medical marijuana
• Fit testing is required and may require shaving for compliance unless a medical exemption is provided in advance
• Two professional references are required for consideration

Requirements

• Active VA or compact RN license required at time of application
• Minimum of 2 years experience in a Med/Surg setting required
• Current BLS certification required
• Candidates must live more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted
• Pending licenses are not accepted
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
