Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN with strong neuro Med/Surg experience and Epic proficiency for a day shift position in an acute care setting.

Responsibilities

Work on a 20-bed Neuro Medical Surgical unit in an acute care hospital
Primary patient population includes neurological cases such as stroke, seizures, deep brain stimulation, surgical or postop spines, and other neurological disorders
Typical patient ratios are 1:5-6 for floor patients
Weekend day shifts available: Friday-Sunday or Saturday-Monday, 12-hour shifts from 7:00 am to 7:30 pm
May float to 7E, 7W, 7NE, or 10E as needed, with additional floating possible within the hospital
Uses Epic EMR; recent Epic experience is required
Tele monitoring is present; RNs verify monitor tech strip readings in Epic
Respiratory therapists are available 24/7 for ventilator management
Responsibilities include caring for patients with complex neurological conditions, postoperative management, and collaborating on care with physicians and interdisciplinary teams
Charge nurse and nurse aides available on each shift for support
Travelers expected to participate in the holiday rotation
Scrub color is any combination of white and royal blue
Unit-specific orientation consists of one shift on the unit
RNs are not required to read telemetry strips but must confirm monitor tech readings in Epic

Requirements

Active WV or compact RN license required
Minimum of 2 years RN experience, with strong neuro background and proficiency managing G-tubes
BLS (AHA) and NIHSS certifications required at time of consideration
Recent experience with Epic EMR required
ACLS certification preferred
Compliance with 100-mile radius rule for eligibility; local travelers not accepted
Past employees must have a 2-year break from any WVU Medicine location prior to reapplying; cumulative travel assignments at WVU limited to one year before a required 2-year break
