Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position in Iowa, requiring at least 24 months of recent Med/Surg experience and Epic EMR proficiency.
Responsibilities
- Work in a hospital setting transitioning from post-op surgical care (3E) to Med Surg/Tele (5E)
- Care for a diverse range of med surg patients, including those with telemetry and cardiac needs
- Day shifts, three 12-hour shifts weekly
- Required to float to all campuses within relevant skillset and contracted unit
- Epic EMR is used and experience is required
- No on-call requirements
- Works every third weekend and participates in holiday rotation if scheduled
- RNs will start on the 3E post-op surgical care unit and transition to 5E Med Surg/Tele after March 10
- May be asked to assume charge nurse or preceptor responsibilities as needed
- Must be open to extending assignments beyond the initial 13 weeks
- Team members are supported during transitions between units
- One recent supervisory reference within 24 months is preferred for consideration
- Holiday coverage requires working two of three major winter holidays (Christmas, New Year's, or Thanksgiving)
- Only one day of time off is allowed during key holiday periods
- First-time travelers are accepted if minimum experience requirements are met
Requirements
- Active Iowa or compact RN license required at time of consideration
- Minimum of 24 months recent Med Surg or Med Surg Tele RN experience required
- Experience with a variety of med surg patient types required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Experience with Heparin required
- American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) BLS certification required
- Must have completed at least one travel contract within the past 18 months to be considered as a first-time traveler
- Telemetry/cardiac background highly preferred
- Driver’s license required
