Job Description

American Traveler is seeking a skilled RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring at least two years of experience, with strong EKG and telemetry competencies.

Responsibilities

• Position is based in a hospital Med/Surg Tele unit
• Care for patients with medical, surgical, and telemetry needs
• May float to behavioral health, ED, ICU, and some post-procedural areas
• Handles drips including heparin, insulin, lasix, amiodarone, diltiazem, and digoxin
• Every other weekend and holiday rotation required
• Uses Epic EMR system; prior Epic experience is required
• Will be responsible for all standard Med/Surg Tele nursing duties, including telemetry monitoring and administering specialized drips
• May care for diverse patient populations and float to other acute care areas as needed
• Required to work 2 out of 3 major winter holidays (Christmas, New Year's, Thanksgiving); limited time off allowed during peak holiday dates
• De-escalation and NIHSS certificates may be completed during onboarding if not already obtained
• Hospital or medical center experience will be prioritized during candidate selection
• Returning employees may be ineligible if employed by the client within the previous 12 months

Requirements

• Active IA or compact RN license required at time of consideration
• Minimum of 24 months recent Med/Surg, Tele, or Med/Tele experience required
• Current AHA or ARC BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Strong ability to read EKG/ECG, including rhythm strips and dysrhythmia interpretation
• De-Escalation Certificate (SAMA, MAB, MOAB, CPI) highly preferred; can be obtained during onboarding
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certificate highly preferred; can be obtained during onboarding
• Prior experience with heparin, insulin, lasix, amiodarone, diltiazem, and digoxin drips required
• Med/Surg Tele-specific skills checklist required
• Driver's license required for consideration
• Professional reference from a supervisor or manager within the past 24 months preferred
• First-time travelers accepted if minimum experience is met
