Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced Emergency Department RN for an adult and pediatric Level I trauma setting with prior travel and Epic EMR experience required.
Responsibilities
- Work in a large, 58-bed Emergency Department within a hospital setting
- Treat adult and pediatric populations with over 60,000 emergency visits per year
- Handle cases involving trauma, acute stroke, burns, cardiac emergencies, and ECPR (ECMO) procedures
- Coordinate care with ground ambulances and Med Flight for critically ill or injured patients
- Floating required; travelers may be scheduled in multiple units and must cover needs organization-wide
- Evening and night shifts available, including 12-hour (15:00-03:30, 19:00-07:30) and 8-hour options as needed
- Weekend and holiday rotation is expected
- Epic EMR used; prior Epic experience is required
- Provide emergency nursing care for a broad range of critical patients including trauma, cardiac, burn, and pediatric cases
- Participate in an interdisciplinary team alongside subspecialists and support staff
- Must pass a rigorous telemetry exam prior to assignment, with two attempts allotted; failure may result in assignment cancellation
- Orientation typically lasts about one week, with department-specific schedules provided after hire
- Magnet-designated facility with nationally recognized academic teaching environment
- One holiday off may be allowed; strict RTO rules apply and will be reviewed by management
- Scrub and dress code in line with hospital policy
- Permit required for onsite parking; public transportation and park-and-ride options are available
Requirements
- Active WI or compact RN license in hand
- Minimum of two years Emergency Department RN experience in both adult and pediatric populations within the last three years
- Prior experience in an Academic Level I Trauma Center or similar large hospital is mandatory
- Previous travel nursing experience required
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications through the American Heart Association
- Current TNCC certification required
- Basic arrhythmia interpretation experience with requirement to pass a telemetry test prior to start
- Must live at least 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not eligible
