Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) telemetry position with weekend flexibility and floating requirements.

Details

• Work in a hospital-based PCU with a focus on telemetry and neuro patients
• Patient population includes CVA, hydrocephalus, brain tumors, seizures, TBIs, trauma (shootings, stabbings, MVCs), GI surgeries, and large wound care
• Staffing ratios typically 1:3-4, rarely 1:5 in emergencies
• Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 19:00-07:30)
• Requires working 50% of weekends during contract based on unit needs
• Floating to Med-Surg, ICU, or other affiliated hospitals is required
• Travelers may be assigned precepting or allow students to shadow as part of a teaching facility
• May take on charge responsibilities based on operational need with training provided
• Cerner EMR is used; EMR experience is required

Requirements

• Active IN or compact state RN license in hand prior to start date
• Minimum 18 months to 2 years of recent PCU or telemetry RN experience required
• Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS); AHA & RQI accepted
• Proficient telemetry and neuro nursing experience required
• Experience managing drips required
• Conscious sedation and level 1 trauma experience preferred
• Graduation from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
• Experience with Cerner EMR required
• Two supervisor references required
• Locals are not accepted for this position (IN residents are considered local)
• Former permanent or PRN employees must be separated for 12 months to be eligible

• Duties include providing specialized neuro and trauma care, managing telemetry, drips, and participating in large wound management
• Opportunity to work in a teaching hospital environment with interdisciplinary teams
• All travelers must agree to float within the hospital or to nearby affiliates as needed
• 5 days or less of requested time off (RTO) will be auto-approved; additional time off requires facility approval
• Must work 2 out of the 3 major holidays during the contract

• Charge responsibilities may be required at times with appropriate training
• Applicants with previous travel contracts at IU Health must follow designated break policies to reset travel eligibility
