Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg contract serving adult and geriatric patients, requiring a GA or compact license and at least two years of experience.

Responsibilities

• Work in the Medical Surgical unit focusing on adult and geriatric populations
• Unit has 16 beds with a nurse to patient ratio of 1:5-6
• Patient population includes mostly post-surgical, oncology, trauma, and some stroke overflow
• Duties involve wound care, dressing changes, TPN/PPN, NG tubes, CBI, Foley catheters, ports, and PICC lines
• Day shift schedule, three 12-hour shifts per week (7:00–19:00)
• Every other weekend required
• Floating required within facility and scope of practice as needed
• No on-call responsibilities
• EMR: Epic (experience required), Pyxis, and SBAR utilized
• Travelers must wear navy blue scrubs
• A maximum of 7 days of RTO can be requested, not allowed during the first week nor on major holidays unless three holidays fall within assignment
• Holiday coverage required according to assignment period; coverage increases with the number of major holidays during the contract
• Training modules are completed during orientation and tracked via transcripts
• Candidates must be available to promptly submit compliance items and schedule labs within 48 hours of contract signing
• All compliance and documentation must be completed prior to start to avoid orientation delays
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate
• Perm or PRN staff must be away from all related facilities for at least one full year prior to returning as a traveler
• Travel pairs may not be scheduled on the same shift within the same unit
• No blocked scheduling permitted

Requirements

• Active GA or compact RN license required at time of application
• Minimum two years of recent Med/Surg RN experience required
• Current BLS and NIHSS certifications required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Experience with oncology, surgical trauma, and post-surgical patient care required
• Must provide two supervisory references from a manager or higher
