Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring an active IN or compact RN license and strong dysrhythmia management skills.

Responsibilities

• Work in a Med Surg PCU within a short-term acute care hospital setting
• Adult patient population with PCU and med-surg cases
• Float required within the hospital and to nearby affiliate hospitals
• Night shifts (3x12 hours, 18:00–6:30)
• Patient ratios up to 1:5 when floating to Med Surg/PCU
• Requires use of Cerner EMR
• Responsibilities include managing patients on oxygen, providing isolation precautions, and handling rapid response situations
• Red top and black pants are required as dress code
• Candidates must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
• All travelers must float as needed within designated units or nearby hospitals
• Not accepting local candidates for this role
• First-time travelers will be considered if experience requirements are met
• Former permanent or PRN employees must wait 12 months before being eligible to return as a traveler
• RTO of 5 days or less is generally auto-approved; requests above 5 days require approval
• Free parking is available on-site

Requirements

• Active IN or compact RN license in hand at the time of consideration
• Minimum 18 months of recent relevant nursing experience
• Current BLS certification (AHA or RQI acceptable)
• Comfortable with interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Experience with Rapid Response Teams, peripheral line management, and non-invasive airway care
• Graduation from a university accredited by ACEN or CCNE
