Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Med/Surg RN with a WV or compact license and strong telemetry skills for a night shift assignment.

Responsibilities

• Position is based in a 34-bed medical surgical hospital unit with telemetry
• Nurse-to-patient ratios are typically 1:5-7
• Night shifts are available as either 4x12 or 3x12 schedule from 19:00 to 07:30
• Works both weekdays and weekends, with three weekend shifts required every four weeks
• Cerner is the EMR used in the unit
• No scrubs provided
• Responsible for providing direct patient care in a fast-paced med/surg environment with a telemetry focus
• Holiday and weekend coverage are part of regular scheduling expectations
• Online orientation modules must be completed before starting; these average 8 hours and are completed prior to the start date
• Attendance expectations are strict; only two to three call-offs tolerated per contract
• Current or former employees of Vandalia Health System facilities must adhere to eligibility rules for travel assignments

Requirements

• Active WV or compact RN license; pending license is acceptable
• Minimum two years of RN experience required
• Certifications required: BCLS (AHA), NIH
• Must provide at least two recent manager or charge nurse references from the past two years
• Perm address must be more than 100 miles from the facility; 75–100 miles considered case-by-case
• No prior permanent employment with Vandalia Health System within the past two years
