Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN for a Medical ICU position requiring Cerner proficiency and variable shifts.

Responsibilities

• Work in a 16-bed Medical ICU (MICU) within an acute care hospital
• Patient population includes respiratory, stroke, neuro, gastrointestinal, and cardiac cases
• Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:2, with 1:1 for higher acuity patients
• RNs are required to titrate all common ICU drips including propofol, precedex, and vasopressors
• Uses Cerner EMR (transitioning to Epic); Cerner experience required
• Variable 12-hour day and night shifts with every other or every third weekend required
• Holiday coverage required every other holiday or more as needed
• Floating required to similar units or as a patient observer within the hospital
• No specific scrub color required; clean and professional attire expected
• Primary responsibilities include providing advanced critical care, titrating complex drips, and performing patient assessments
• Charge nurses do not carry an assignment, and nurse aids are available to support staff
• Pulmonologists and their teams are present during the day, with coverage at night; RT present 24/7
• RNs are responsible for reading their own cardiac strips
• Self-scheduling is available but travelers have lower priority for scheduling preferences
• Unit and hospital orientation provided (one day hospital, two days unit)
• All clinicians must clock in and out while onsite

Requirements

• Active WI or compact RN license must be in hand by start date
• Minimum of 2 years recent ICU experience required
• At least 1 year of prior travel RN experience required
• Certifications required: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), NIHSS
• Cerner charting experience required
• Must be proficient in rhythm interpretation
• Two professional references required: one from a supervisor and one from a supervisor or peer
• Local candidates within 80 miles are accepted but paid at a lower rate
• Former employees must have a work separation of at least 6 months before consideration
