Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN for a Critical Care Float position requiring travel experience in a Level 1 Trauma Center and strong telemetry skills.
Responsibilities
- Hospital-based Critical Care Float position covering multiple ICU specialties, including Neuro ICU, Cardiothoracic, Burn ICU, and Trauma Surgery
- Works primarily with adult patient populations in an academic Level 1 Trauma Center
- May be assigned to IMC, Progressive, or General Care units as needed
- Night and evening shifts with 8- and 12-hour shifts available (7:00pm–7:30am), every other weekend, and rotating holidays
- Travelers are prioritized to float first and may be scheduled in multiple units or locations as necessary
- Epic EMR used; prior Epic experience required
- No on-call requirements
- Engage in patient care across various critical and progressive care units depending on staffing needs
- Expected to participate in holiday and weekend rotations as assigned
- First time travelers may be considered depending on the unit
- Orientation typically lasts about one week and follows a department-specific schedule
- Strict pass/fail testing is mandated for telemetry competency prior to starting assignment
- Magnet recognized and collaborative work environment in a highly ranked academic medical center
- Locals within a 50-mile radius are not eligible for this position
Requirements
- Active WI or compact RN license in hand at time of consideration
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association
- Minimum two years of recent acute care ICU experience within the last three years
- Prior travel assignment of at least 13 weeks successfully completed
- Experience in an academic Level 1 Trauma Center required
- Basic arrhythmia recognition and telemetry skills required
- Must pass a telemetry exam prior to start, with specific pass/fail criteria and limited attempts
- Permanent address must be at least 50 miles from the facility
- Epic EMR experience required, preferably within the last 12 months
