Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring AZ or compact RN license and strong skills in fetal monitoring and OB emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Work in an acute care hospital Labor & Delivery unit with Level III trauma designation
• Unit includes 7 L&D beds, 2 triage beds, and 10 postpartum beds
• Patient ratio typically 1:2 with 1-3 births per day
• Care for laboring and postpartum patients including high-risk and pre-eclamptic cases
• Shift is 12-hour nights (6pm-6am) with a minimum of 3 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule
• Will float to ED or Med/Surg units if experienced
• One call shift required per 4-week schedule
• Uses Allscripts EMR (experience preferred but not required)
• Must be able to act independently due to no in-house OB/Neonatologist coverage
• Support team includes respiratory therapist (24/7), patient care technician, OB scrub tech, pharmacy (24/7), and health unit secretary
• Orientation takes place every Monday and consists of 8 hours
• Candidates should be comfortable caring for patients in both L&D and postpartum units as census demands
• Scrub color is not specified

Requirements

• Active AZ or compact RN license
• Minimum 3 years of experience in Labor & Delivery
• Certifications required: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, NRP, and Intermediate or Advanced Fetal Monitoring (not via AWHONN)
• Proficient in fetal monitoring and managing fetal distress
• Experienced in caring for high-risk L&D patients and managing OB emergencies independently
• C-section experience required
• Ability to function in both L&D and couplet care settings
