Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery unit, requiring a VA or compact RN license and recent hospital L&D experience.

Responsibilities

• Work in a hospital-based Labor & Delivery unit with 12 beds
• Care for high-acuity patients with complex pregnancies, language barriers, substance abuse, and chronic conditions
• Typical patient ratios are 1:1-2 depending on acuity and staffing
• 12-hour day shifts with every other weekend and major holiday coverage required
• On-call responsibilities up to 24 hours every 6 weeks
• May float within New Life Center or to other L&D units in Richmond
• Uses equipment such as warmers, GE monitors, pulse oximeters, and blood glucose monitors
• Experience with Epic and Perinatal Centricity (QS) preferred
• May be asked to scrub or assist in deliveries
• Pass/fail EKG testing required on first day with study guides provided
• Responsible for comprehensive patient assessments, care planning, education, and advocacy within an interdisciplinary team
• Must cover assigned holiday shifts as scheduled
• Supportive team environment with both inpatient and outpatient OB care responsibilities

Requirements

• Active VA or compact RN license required
• Current BLS, ACLS, NRP, and Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM) certifications required
• Minimum 1-2 years of recent Labor & Delivery experience including antepartum, intrapartum, cesarean section, postpartum, and magnesium sulfate administration
• Hospital-based RN experience required
• Fetal heart monitoring, OR, cardiac monitoring, and blood glucose monitoring skills required
• Epic EHR experience preferred
• Must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
