Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring strong telemetry skills, night shifts, and a current MD or compact RN license.
Responsibilities
- Work in a hospital Progressive Care Unit (PCU) with stepdown level care
- Patient population includes those requiring intermediate cardiac monitoring and care
- Night shift schedule, three 12-hour shifts weekly from 19:00 to 07:30
- Required to float to IMC, Medical-Surgical, and Telemetry units as needed
- Every third weekend coverage is required
- First-time travelers are accepted for this position
- Return staff must have a one-year separation from prior MedStar employment
- No time off is allowed during the first two weeks of the assignment and no more than 7 days of RTO permitted in a 13-week contract
- Facility requires the completion of orientation modules within one week of contract signing
- All required labs and appointments must be completed within 48 hours of contract signing
- Team support includes floating with priority assignments for travelers
- Night shift nurses are expected to work every third weekend
Requirements
- Active MD or compact RN license required at time of consideration
- Current ACLS and BLS certifications required
- Minimum of 2 years recent PCU, stepdown, IMC, Tele, or Cardiac Tele experience required
- Successful completion of the Relias EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam with at least 80% overall and 100% on lethal rhythms is required
- Driver’s license must match address for local status determination (locals within 60 miles accepted at a lower rate)
- 2 professional supervisor references from within the past 2 years required
