Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Operating Room RN with trauma, neuro, vascular, and ortho experience and a current CA RN license.

Responsibilities

• Work in the Operating Room of an acute care hospital
• Care for trauma, neuro, vascular, and orthopedic surgical patients
• Day shifts consisting of 3x12 hours with variable start times (7:00, 9:00)
• Weekend shifts required
• On-call required up to 6-8 shifts every 6 weeks, including nights, evenings, and weekends
• May be required to cover one night shift during contract
• Floating required within the hospital and to nearby affiliate hospitals
• Uses Epic EMR for documentation
• Scrubs provided for OR staff
• Will participate in a rotating on-call schedule distributed equally among all nursing staff
• Expected to float to sister facilities as needed; refusal to float may result in assignment termination
• Must be willing to work at least 2 of the 3 major holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's
• Non-billable orientation modules must be completed prior to start
• Team structure includes support from per diem and permanent staff

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required at time of consideration
• Current BLS certification required
• Minimum of 2 years recent experience in an operating room with trauma, neuro, vascular, and ortho cases
• Epic charting experience required
• Open to first-time travelers
• RTO must be included at the time of application
• References from at least 2 supervisors covering 1 year within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty required
• Must live outside a 50-mile radius from the facility for travel stipend eligibility
• Former permanent staff must wait 3 months before returning as a traveler
