Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Medical Surgical position requiring a NJ or compact license and proficiency with telemetry and Med/Surg skills.

Responsibilities

• Position is in a 23-bed Medical Surgical unit
• Patient ratio is 1:7
• Day shift schedule: 3x12 hour shifts, 7:00 to 19:30
• Every other weekend is required
• Patient cases include medical and surgical conditions, pre/post neuro surgery, renal failure, and total joint replacements
• Telemetry monitoring is performed remotely
• Documentation is done using Epic, and experience is preferred
• Travelers may not float in pairs or groups
• No more than 3 days of requested time off will be auto-approved
• No RTO allowed during the first week of orientation
• Onsite orientation and modules are completed during the first week, with modules recorded via transcripts
• First-time travelers are considered if they meet experience requirements
• Weekly orientation held on Mondays with certain exclusion dates
• White top and navy pants are required for scrubs

Requirements

• Active NJ or compact state RN license required
• Minimum of 2 years Med/Surg experience required
• Epic charting experience is preferred
• Must have skills in telemetry monitoring, IV insulin protocol, colostomy and feeding tube care, pre/post hemodialysis, blood product administration, central and peripheral line management, PICC line management, and post-surgical care
• Experience with tracheostomy management, oxygen management, and starting IVs required
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility; locals within 50 miles are not accepted
• Former perm staff must have a 1-year separation before returning as a traveler
