Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position requiring an IL RN license and prior Level I Trauma ED experience.

Responsibilities

• Work in the Emergency Department of an urban, Level I Trauma hospital
• Patient ratios are 1:4
• Day shift schedule with 3x12 hour shifts from 7:00 to 19:30
• Every other weekend required
• Floating to other units is required
• Epic is used for charting and documentation
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Must complete non-billable orientation modules (2–3 hours) during onboarding
• Teaching hospital experience is preferred
• Maximum 7 days of requested time off allowed during assignment
• Requested time off is not permitted during the first or last week of the contract
• Candidates with previous permanent employment at University of Chicago locations must have a 7-month gap before consideration

Requirements

• Active IL RN license in hand is required
• Minimum of 1 year of Emergency Department nursing experience
• Prior experience in an urban, Level I Trauma ED required
• Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and PALS
• Preferred certifications: TNCC and CPI
• Must reside at least 75 miles from the facility
• Pending licenses are not accepted
