Job Description

American Traveler is seeking a skilled RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position providing care in a fast-paced border setting with night shift and floating required.

Responsibilities

• Position is based in a hospital Med/Surg Telemetry unit with focus on ER borders
• Work schedule consists of 3x12 hour night shifts (19:30-08:00)
• Every other weekend and holiday coverage required as scheduled
• Care for a wide range of complex ED admission diagnoses with high patient volume
• Average daily census ranges from 10 to 40 border patients in a 46-room unit
• Nurse-to-patient ratio is typically 1:6
• Floating required between ED borders, Med/Surg Tele, and IMC units within scope
• No pre-scheduled on-call shifts
• Job duties include providing nursing care to border patients from the ED in a high volume, fast-paced environment
• Team-based environment with travelers prioritized for floating assignments
• Royal blue scrubs are required for this position
• Electronic modules and compliance tasks must be completed prior to start
• Lab testing required within 72 hours of contract signing
• Holiday coverage expectations apply as assigned by the unit
• Requested time off (RTO) must be submitted at application and cannot be changed after offer
• Block scheduling or specific schedule restrictions cannot be requested

Requirements

• Active MD or Compact RN license required at time of consideration
• Current BLS, ACLS, and CPI certifications required (AHA only for BLS/ACLS)
• Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg Telemetry experience required
• First-time travelers are accepted
• Must submit two professional references: one supervisor/manager and one charge RN
• Permanent residence must be at least 50 miles from the facility
• Comfortable floating to different units within scope
• Return travelers must have a minimum 6-month gap from previous assignment within this system
• Former staff must have a 12-month gap before returning as a traveler
