Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position requiring a MD or compact RN license and strong adaptability in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Position is in a hospital Med/Surg Tele unit with ER border responsibilities
• Day shifts consist of 3x12 hours from 07:30 to 20:00
• Minimum patient census of 10 and up to 40 ER border patients daily
• Nurse-to-patient ratio is approximately 1:6
• Care for a wide variety of diagnoses, including complex ED admissions in a high-volume setting
• Floating required among ED borders, Med/Surg Tele, and IMC units within scope
• Every other weekend work required
• Holiday shifts required as scheduled
• No prescheduled on-call shifts are assigned
• RN will provide patient care to a diverse range of Med/Surg, telemetry, and ER border patients
• Travelers will be first to float within prepared specialties and must do so without restriction
• Royal blue scrubs are required for this assignment
• First-time travelers are accepted for this position
• Return candidates must be away for at least 6 months if returning as a traveler, and 12 months if former staff
• Only one major holiday off may be taken in the winter season and time off requests must be included at initial consideration
• Training modules are required and included in onboarding

Requirements

• Active MD or Compact RN license required at time of consideration
• Minimum of 2 years recent experience in Med/Surg Telemetry or related settings
• Current BLS and ACLS required (AHA only)
• CPI certification required (Calm Every Storm online version only accepted)
• Two satisfactory professional references from recent employers required (including one supervisor or manager and one charge RN)
• Permanent residence must be at least 50 miles from the hospital
