Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring 2 years of L&D experience and active CA RN license.

Responsibilities

• Position is in an acute care Family Birthing Center with labor and delivery and mother-baby units
• Unit consists of 13 L&D beds, 9 mother-baby beds, and 2 operating rooms
• Patient population includes standard and high-risk labor patients, triage of OB patients 20 weeks or greater, and OB evaluation of patients under 20 weeks in the ER
• Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:2 in L&D and 1:4 in mother-baby
• Required to circulate for C-sections
• OB physicians, anesthesia, respiratory therapy, and pharmacy are available 24/7
• Uses Cerner EMR system
• 12-hour day shifts with every third weekend required
• Travelers are first to float; may float to mother-baby or level 1 nursery if experienced
• Scrubs are provided
• Orientation consists of 2-3 floor-specific shifts based on skill set
• No nurse aides on unit; charge nurse may take patients if necessary
• Holiday rotation required alongside core staff
• No on-call requirement for travelers
• Approximately 90-100 births occur per month in unit
• Candidates may not have been directly employed by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility within the past year
• RNs must pass Relias Dysrhythmia and sterile technique testing during orientation

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required at time of consideration
• Minimum 2 years of recent L&D experience
• Current certifications in BLS, ACLS, NRP, and AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring
• Must be able to provide 2 professional references (one from a supervisor within the last 12 months and one from a peer or supervisor within the last 3 years)
• Experience with Cerner EMR preferred
• Ability to circulate C-sections required
