Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Med/Surg RN for a night shift hospital position requiring a compact or VA RN license and at least two years of recent Med/Surg experience.

Responsibilities

• Work in a Medical Surgical unit at a hospital setting
• Night shifts available as either 3x12 or 4x12 hour schedules, 7:00 pm to 7:00 am
• Patient population includes a variety of general medical and surgical cases typical for a Med/Surg unit
• Floating may be required in rotation with staff based on clinical experience and organizational policies
• Cerner/Oracle Health charting system used; prior experience preferred but not required
• Biweekly orientations start on Mondays
• Will be expected to work some holidays in rotation with staff
• Return to former employment as a traveler requires at least one year of separation from previous permanent employment at this health system
• Professional appearance required; scrubs of any color allowed, including child-friendly prints, with optional scrub or lab coat
• Complete 8-10 hours of required modules during orientation and annually, with content varying by specialty
• Modules are recorded and managed by the facility
• Time off requests must be approved prior to assignment start, with minimal RTO preferred in the early weeks

Requirements

• Active VA or compact RN license required and must be in hand
• Minimum two years of recent Med/Surg RN experience required
• Current AHA BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• First-time travelers are not accepted
• Must live at least 60 miles from the facility; local candidates not accepted
• Must be nicotine-free as campus is nicotine-free
