Job Description

American Traveler is seeking a Physical Therapist with at least 1 year of acute inpatient or rehab experience for an acute care assignment; license required if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Acute inpatient and swing bed care settings
• Typical daily caseload of 8 to 10 patients with 1 therapist per day
• Common patient diagnoses include orthopedic total joints, neuro (including stroke and occasional brain injuries), medical, and general ICU cases
• Required to cover both acute inpatient and swing bed areas
• May float to a nearby facility when census is low
• Uses Epic EMR
• 5 shifts per week, Monday through Friday, 8-hour day shifts from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM
• No self-scheduling or blocked scheduling allowed
• May be required to cover holidays
• Responsibilities include managing an acute inpatient and swing bed patient caseload with varied diagnoses
• Support from department manager available during shifts
• Department-specific orientation provided, typically 2-3 days
• Scrubs permitted; color must not match other departments, with a list provided on hire
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Permanent employees must wait one year before applying for a travel position
• A 50-mile radius rule applies; no local candidates will be considered

Requirements

• Active PT license required at time of consideration, if applicable
• Minimum 1 year of recent experience in acute inpatient or rehabilitation
• Current BLS certification required
• Ability to provide two references: one supervisor from the past 12 months and one peer or supervisor from the last 3 years
• Copy of valid driver's license required
• State license verification must be active; pending licenses not accepted
• Experience with Epic EMR preferred
