Job Description

American Traveler is seeking a RN for a Med/Surg position in Alaska with the flexibility to float to multiple units and work both day and night shifts.

Responsibilities

• Work in a Critical Access Hospital setting with responsibilities across Med-Surg Adult, Mother/Baby, Ortho, and Peds units
• Patient care includes all ages requiring multisystem disease management and treatment
• Float as needed between Med/Surg, Emergency Department, and ICU
• Variable schedule with day and night shifts as needed
• Perform a variety of nursing care procedures independently for patients of all ages
• Coordinate care utilizing provider orders and hospital protocols
• Float as needed and assist in other departments including ED and ICU
• Responsible for patient education, discharge planning, and effective interdisciplinary communication
• Must be able to respond calmly and make sound decisions in emergent situations
• Leadership includes proper delegation and supervision of CNAs and tech staff
• Rotating on-call responsibilities apply for certain specialty areas
• Dress code compliance required
• No COVID-19 vaccine required at this time

Requirements

• Active, unrestricted AK RN license required at time of application
• Minimum 2 years of relevant nursing experience required
• Certifications required: BLS (BCLS), ACLS, and PALS
• Must submit two fingerprint cards upon acceptance
• Flu vaccination required
• Education required to obtain AK RN license; high school diploma or equivalent
