Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an inpatient rehab/med-surg night shift position requiring a NE or compact RN license and strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Work in an acute care inpatient rehab/med-surg unit with 35 beds
• Serve adult and geriatric patients including stroke, spinal cord injury, amputee, brain injury, critical illness, MS, and Parkinson's
• Patient ratios are 1:5 on days and 1:6 on nights
• 12-hour night shifts with self-scheduling available
• Every third weekend and a minimum of two holidays are required
• Float to med-surg units as needed
• Charge nurse and nurse aids present on each shift
• EMR system used is Epic
• RNs will not be required to titrate drips; common infusions include antibiotics and anticoagulants at set or fixed rates
• Classroom and unit orientation provided, including two 12-hour shifts on the unit
• Open book pass/fail exam on orientation Friday; must score at least 90% to remain on assignment
• Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas; refusal to remove will result in termination
• At least two recent professional references, including a supervisor, are required for consideration
• Time off requests must be submitted upfront (7 or fewer days for a 13-week contract); additional time off will not be approved
• Nurse aids maintain a 1:10-15 ratio for patient care support

Requirements

• Active NE or compact (NLC) RN license required at time of consideration; pending licenses are not accepted
• Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience
• Current BLS certification required
• Strong organizational, teamwork, and communication skills
• Must provide a valid driver's license to verify permanent address
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
• Not eligible if employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) within the past year at any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility
