Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced Stepdown RN with a compact or VA license and required certifications for a night shift position.
Responsibilities
- Stepdown/PCU unit in a hospital setting
- Option of 3x12 or 4x12 night shifts, 19:00–07:00
- Floating required to Intermediate and MedSurg units, with travelers floating first as needed
- Cerner/Oracle Health EMR experience preferred but not required
- Patient population includes stepdown acuity cases
- Holiday and weekend shifts rotated with staff
- Orientation is biweekly on Mondays and includes 8-10 hours of module completion
- Modules are completed during orientation and annually, tailored to specialty
- Professional scrubs of any color allowed, including child-friendly print tops and scrub/lab coats
- Policy requires a professional appearance at all times
- Facility is a nicotine-free campus
- RTO (requested time off) must be approved prior to assignment start, with preference for no RTO in the initial weeks
- Floating will be in accordance with experience and Joint Commission standards, with orientation provided
Requirements
- Active compact or VA RN license in hand
- Minimum 1 year experience in stepdown or PCU specialty
- BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required (AHA accepted)
- Two professional references from within the past 2 years required for consideration
- First time travelers will not be considered
- Must be nicotine free
- Applicants must live outside a 60-mile radius from the facility
- Former permanent staff must be separated for at least one year to be eligible
