Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery (LDRP) position requiring 2 years of LDRP experience and multiple advanced certifications.

Responsibilities

• Work in an acute care LDRP unit at a trauma level 3 facility
• Unit includes 12 LDRP rooms, 1 OR suite for C-sections, and 1 triage bed
• Responsible for both labor and delivery as well as postpartum and mother/baby care
• Patient population averages 1.5 births per day
• Follows AWHONN guidelines for nurse-to-patient ratios
• Work 12-hour day shifts with every other weekend required
• First to float within L&D, postpartum, and mother/baby units per hospital policy
• Uses Epic EMR; experience preferred
• Electronic fetal monitoring uses GE and OBIX systems
• Call and standby may be required per policy
• Couplet care and postpartum care responsibilities are required as part of daily duties
• Charge nurses typically have an assignment on this unit
• Support from a surgical tech available for C-sections
• No anesthesia, OB, or neonatology providers are in-house 24/7
• Dress code allows any professional colors for scrubs
• Unit-based orientation of 1-2 shifts is provided
• Candidates must reside at least 60 miles from the facility
• Returning candidates may not have been directly employed by the health system within the past year

Requirements

• Active KS or compact RN license in hand at time of consideration
• Minimum 2 years of LDRP experience required
• Current certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), NRP, and Intermediate Fetal Monitoring
• Ability to titrate Pitocin drips and circulate in the OR
• Fetal monitoring competency required
• Must submit a copy of driver’s license
• Two professional references: one supervisor from the last 12 months and one supervisor or peer from the past 3 years
