Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit position with telemetry and Med Surg responsibilities, requiring an IN or compact RN license and night shift availability.

Responsibilities

• Work in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) within a short-term acute care hospital
• Patient population includes Med Surg and telemetry cases
• Floating required within the hospital and to nearby affiliate hospitals
• Night shift schedule with 3x12 hour shifts (18:00-06:30)
• Must be comfortable with float ratios of up to 1:5
• Use of Cerner EMR is required
• Red top and black pants are required for scrubs
• Responsibilities include interpreting and managing dysrhythmias, managing rapid response scenarios, and various oxygen therapies
• Must be willing to work 2 out of 3 major holidays
• First-time travelers with the required experience are accepted
• All travelers may be required to float to different units or nearby locations
• Must be away from prior staff employment with IU Health for at least 12 months before applying as a traveler
• RTO (Requested Time Off) for up to 5 days is auto-approved, with more requiring facility approval
• Free parking is provided on site

Requirements

• Active IN or Compact RN license in hand at time of consideration
• Minimum 18 months of RN experience in Med Surg or PCU settings
• Current BLS certification (AHA and RQI accepted)
• Graduation from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
• Ability to interpret and manage dysrhythmias, use Rapid Response Teams, provide peripheral line care, and manage non-invasive airways
• Experience handling oxygen delivery devices and isolation precautions
• No local candidates accepted for MS, MS Tele, PCU, ICU, or ER positions
• Cerner charting experience required
• References from two supervisors required
