Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a PACU position specializing in IR recovery with pediatric and ICU experience required.

Responsibilities

• Position is in the IR PACU unit of a hospital setting
• Care for post-anesthesia patients, including pediatric cases, with phase 1 recovery responsibilities
• Rotating day shifts with 12-hour shifts, start times vary between 6:00 AM, 7:00 AM, and 8:00 AM
• Expected to work 3 shifts per week with variable start times
• Frequent late stays are required, approximately 3-4 per 6 weeks
• On-call required, with weekday hours from 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM and weekend shifts divided between 6:00 AM–6:00 PM and 6:00 PM–6:00 AM
• Floating required within the main hospital and to affiliated hospitals as needed
• Recover only IR PACU patients when floating to the main PACU
• Modules completed during orientation and annually
• Must be able to respond to call within 1 hour
• Return staff must wait 6 months before reapplying as a traveler
• Local candidates with a permanent address within 100 miles are not eligible
• All time off must be disclosed at the time of consideration; any time off requested after will not be approved
• Team members collaborate to provide post-anesthesia care for a diverse patient population

Requirements

• Active KY or compact RN license required at time of consideration
• Minimum 2 years of PACU experience with at least 1 year in ICU
• Previous IR PACU experience with phase 1 recovery required
• Experience caring for pediatric patients required
• Certifications required: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS; PALS required prior to start but not at time of consideration
• No licensure hits accepted
• References from two supervisors within the last three years required
• Level 1 trauma experience required
