Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position with 12-hour night shifts and a requirement for at least 18 months of recent Med/Tele RN experience.

Responsibilities

• Work in a 20-bed adult Med/Surg Tele unit within a hospital setting
• Care for patients with a variety of diagnoses, including COPD, CHF, cardiac arrhythmias, uncontrolled diabetes, respiratory illnesses, GI infections, and behavioral health conditions
• Patient ratios are 1:4-5 for telemetry and 1:5-6 for med/surg, depending on acuity
• Use of telemetry monitors, bladder scanner, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and EPIC EMR
• Remote telemetry monitoring provided
• Work 12-hour night shifts from 7pm to 7am, every other weekend required
• Holiday coverage required, with travelers working 75% of holidays
• Floating required within Region 1 facilities and within scope of practice
• No on-call responsibilities
• RNs are supported by CNAs, secretaries, free-floating charge nurses, and 24/7 respiratory therapy and hospitalist teams
• Orientation includes New Employee Orientation and two days of departmental training
• Scrub color is navy
• Free parking is available on site
• First-time travelers may be considered if they have strong experience
• Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays, and any unmet contracted hours must be added to the end of the contract

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license required
• Minimum of 18 months recent Med/Surg Tele RN experience
• Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Strong experience with trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts, wound care, feeding tubes, and NGT placement
• Ability to administer common infusions such as Cardizem, Amiodarone, Heparin, Lasix, and Octreotide
• Experience with EPIC EMR preferred
• Permanent address must be at least 50 miles from the home facility
