Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring a VA or compact RN license, current certifications, and strong perinatal skills.

Responsibilities

• Hospital-based Labor & Delivery unit with 12 beds
• Cares for high acuity obstetric patients, including those with language barriers, substance abuse, and chronic conditions affecting pregnancy
• Patient ratios are typically 1:1 to 1:2
• Required to work 12-hour day shifts, with every other weekend and major holidays
• May float within the New Life Center or to other L&D units in Richmond as needed
• Use of equipment includes warmer, GE monitor, pulse oximeter, and blood glucose monitors
• Preferred experience with Epic and Perinatal Centricity (QS) EMRs
• On-call up to 24 hours per 6 weeks is required
• Responsibilities include initial and ongoing patient assessments, care planning, patient and family education, and implementation of nursing interventions
• Involves medication administration and care coordination with interdisciplinary teams
• Must pass EKG testing on first day with up to two attempts; study guides provided
• Major holiday coverage is required as part of the schedule
• Dress code and scrubs requirements in accordance with hospital policy

Requirements

• Active VA or compact RN license
• Current certifications in BLS, ACLS, NRP, and FHM
• Minimum 1-2 years of recent Labor & Delivery experience, including antepartum, intrapartum, cesarean section, postpartum, and magnesium sulfate administration
• Hospital experience required
• Experience with fetal heart monitoring, cardiac monitoring, and operating room preferred
• Preferred ability to scrub and assist in deliveries
• Preferred: Experience with Epic EHR and Perinatal Centricity (QS) systems
• Must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
