Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele Float position, requiring 2+ years of high-acuity Med/Surg Tele experience and an active OH or compact license.
Responsibilities
- Work in a comprehensive cancer center within hospital inpatient settings
- Float between Med/Surg and PCU Oncology units including BMT, Acute Leukemia, Hematology, Medical Oncology, PCU Oncology, Gynecological Oncology, Urology, Colorectal, Surgical Oncology, and Corrections Healthcare
- Patient ratios in PCU are typically 1:3, may be 1:4 for mixed acuity; Med/Surg Tele units ideally 1:4 but may be up to 1:5
- Heavy focus on infection prevention protocols and patient falls
- Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 19:00 to 7:30); day/night option may be available
- Variable weekend requirements based on unit needs
- Self-scheduling requests taken into consideration before final schedule is posted
- First week orientation is Monday to Friday, day shift; additional bedside orientation provided between weeks 2 and 3
- Provide specialized nursing care for oncology and medical-surgical patients across multiple inpatient units
- Emphasis on infection prevention and safety protocols
- Former employees are eligible to return after a 6-month break; current employees of the health system are not eligible for this assignment
- Local candidates are accepted
- Scheduling requests and time off must be included with initial consideration
- Scrub or dress code requirements are not specified
Requirements
- Active RN license (OH or Compact) required at time of consideration
- Minimum of 2 years recent high-acuity Med/Surg Tele experience required
- ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
- Oncology experience is preferred but not required
- Requires two professional references, at least one from a manager, director, or supervisor in formal leadership
- Must complete Ohio fingerprinting process promptly after booking
