Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery LDRP position on night shifts, requiring a ND or compact RN license and intermediate fetal monitoring skills.

Responsibilities

  • Work in an acute care LDRP unit with 7 labor and delivery and 8 postpartum beds
  • Handles an average of 58 births per month with a patient mix primarily of obstetric and neonate cases
  • Provides care for common diagnoses such as hypertension and gestational diabetes, with 1:1 ratios for certain drips and 1:3 for couplet care following AWHONN guidelines
  • Required to titrate pitocin, magnesium, and insulin drips
  • Will float as needed to MedSurg or ER, with perm staff first to float
  • Uses Meditech EMR and Philips telemetry monitors
  • Shift is nights, 12 hours, with call based on staffing, and every third weekend and every other holiday required
  • Block scheduling is available but no self-scheduling
  • Scrub color is maroon; surgical scrubs are provided and changed into on unit
  • Responsible for full-scope LDRP nursing including titrating ordered drips and interpreting fetal monitoring
  • Support from nurse aides/surgical techs is provided, including help with vitals and patient transfers
  • Charge nurse on each shift who also takes an assignment
  • No OB/Neonatologist or anesthesia in house 24/7
  • Up to three shifts of department-specific orientation are provided
  • Must be adaptable to change with strong communication skills
  • All requested time off (RTO) must be provided upfront; additional RTO will not be approved
  • First time travelers will not be considered for this position

Requirements

  • Active ND or compact RN license required and must be current at time of consideration
  • Minimum 2 years of recent LDRP or L&D experience required
  • BLS and Intermediate Fetal Monitoring certifications required; ACLS, NRP, and STABLE preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret fetal strips is essential
  • Must have strong critical thinking skills and experience adhering to quality metrics
  • Previous travel experience required
  • Must provide two professional references (one supervisor within last 12 months, one peer or supervisor within last 3 years)
  • Copy of driver's license required for consideration
  • Cannot have been employed by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility full-time, part-time, or PRN within the past 12 months
  • Must live more than 50 miles from the facility
