Job Description
American Traveler is hiring a PCU RN with strong cardiac post-op experience and ACLS/BLS certification for a night shift assignment.
Responsibilities
- Work in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) with a focus on post-cardiac and post-vascular surgery patients
- Level I or II trauma experience required
- Patient ratios range from 1:3-5 based on acuity
- Night shift schedule with three 12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 07:30
- Every other weekend required; consecutive weekends may be needed based on operational need
- Charge nurse duties may be assigned based on unit needs with training provided
- Floating required to Med-Surg, PCU, and ICU at both main and affiliate hospitals
- Cerner EMR charting required
- Strong cardiac and post-operative experience is essential for this role
- First-time travelers are accepted
- COVID-19 vaccination required; medical or religious exemptions accepted with a doctor's note
- Candidates must work two out of three major holidays
- Automatic approval for up to 5 days of requested time off
- Not accepting local candidates for this position
- Former employees must have a 12-month separation before returning as a traveler
- Refusal to float may lead to contract termination
- Resources and support provided when floating to different care levels
Requirements
- Active IN or Compact RN license in hand by assignment start date
- ACLS and BLS certifications (AHA or RQI accepted)
- 18 months to 2 years of recent relevant PCU experience required
- Must have telemetry, IV start, cardiac drip titration, and trauma care skills
- Trauma level I or II hospital experience required
- Graduation from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
