Job Description
American Traveler is seeking a skilled RN with at least 2 years of antepartum experience for a high-risk Mother Baby - Antepartum night shift position requiring an active WA or compact license.
Responsibilities
- Work in a high-risk antepartum unit caring for patients from 6 to 41 weeks gestation
- Patient population includes preterm labor, placenta previa, preeclampsia, diabetes, hypertension, premature rupture of membranes, twins, and substance use disorder in pregnancy
- Care includes managing patients with fetal demise or loss, postpartum mothers with babies in NICU; newborns are not present on this unit
- Support bedside procedures such as amniocentesis and sterile speculum exams
- Utilize specialized equipment including PCA pumps, PICC/central lines, and syringe pumps
- Administer medications such as heparin, insulin drips, and magnesium sulfate therapy
- Night shift position, 3x12 hour shifts from 19:00 to 07:30
- Float required to postpartum unit and potentially to other facilities within the state
- Epic EMR is used and prior Epic experience is required
- Responsibilities include high-acuity antepartum care and urgent maternal assessments
- Must be prepared to provide support for postpartum mothers with infants in NICU and manage cases of pregnancy loss
- Teamwork emphasized with opportunities to float and collaborate across units
- Scrub attire in any color is allowed, but scrubs are provided when floating to Labor & Delivery
- Minimal to no requested time off is preferred; all time-off requests must be submitted with application
- Former perm employees of non-Swedish Providence facilities must have 3 months separation and cannot work within 50 miles of former facility
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- All travelers are expected to float between facilities within the state if required
- Holiday and weekend coverage may be required
Requirements
- Active WA RN or compact state nursing license
- Minimum 2 years of recent antepartum nursing experience required
- Must be comfortable assisting with sterile speculum exams and circulating for C-sections
- Required certifications: AWHONN Advanced, BLS, NRP
- ACLS certification preferred
- Experience maintaining central lines (CVC/PICC) and administering intravenous therapies
- Intermediate AWHONN requires managerial approval
- References: Two supervisory references covering at least one year of recent employment in a comparable setting
- Social security card and driver's license required
- Documentation of COVID and flu vaccination as required
