Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg position in Michigan requiring a minimum of 1.5 years of Med/Surg or PCU experience and strong post-surgical competencies.

Responsibilities

• Hospital setting on a Medical Surgical unit
• Night shifts, three 12-hour shifts per week (19:00–07:30)
• Required to work every other weekend
• No on-call responsibilities
• Holiday coverage required as needed
• Patient ratios up to 1:6
• Floating required to other Med/Surg units, ICU, and ED waiting areas to care for Med/Surg patients
• Remote telemetry monitoring involved
• Duties include comprehensive post-surgical care, telemetry monitoring, and performing a variety of clinical procedures
• Must be available for the first two weeks of the assignment without interruption
• Training or orientation provided at the start of assignment
• First time travelers are welcome to apply

Requirements

• Active Michigan RN license required
• BLS (AHA) and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 1.5 years of Med/Surg or PCU nursing experience required
• Demonstrated competencies in post-surgical care
• Experience with telemetry, colostomy care, feeding tube management, pre/post hemodialysis management, port access, blood product administration, peripheral and PICC line management, IV starts, heparin, insulin, PCA, surgical drains, chest tubes, and wound care
• Experience with non-invasive airway management including high flow nasal cannula, nasal cannula, oxygen face masks, portable oxygen tanks, oral suctioning, and tracheostomy management
• Familiarity with isolation precautions and wound vac systems
