Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position with night shifts and the requirement of a ME or compact RN license.

Responsibilities

• Work in the Emergency Department of a critical access hospital with a 4-bed ED
• Patient population includes neonates to geriatrics presenting with a wide range of emergencies such as abdominal pain, CHF, chest pain, trauma, respiratory illnesses, seizures, and animal bites
• Typical RN patient ratio is 1:4, dependent on acuity, and supported by cross-trained Med-Surg RNs
• Shifts are 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM, with every other weekend rotation
• Occasional floating to Med-Surg or Telemetry units may be required
• Charting is done in Cerner and Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis, GE Monitors, Hamilton T1 ventilators, and LifePak 20 Defibrillators are used
• Position covers a wide variety of acute and emergent cases with support from charge nurse, phlebotomy, and cross-trained Med-Surg staff
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• On-unit orientation lasts 3–4 days based on experience and comfort
• Travelers are expected to work at least 1 to 2 holidays per contract based on schedule rotation
• Staff wear professional, solid-colored scrubs of any color
• Free parking is available on site

Requirements

• Active ME or compact RN license required
• Minimum 1 year of recent Emergency Department RN experience required, with 2 years preferred
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required; TNCC and NRP preferred
• Ability to manage ICU holdovers, insulin and cardiac gtts, vasoactive drips, central lines, BiPAP, ventilators, procedural sedation, RSI, and triage
• Experience with Cerner EMR preferred
• Applicants must not have worked at any Northern Light Health hospital in a permanent capacity
• Flu vaccination required after 9/30/2024, with medical exemptions reviewed by the client
