Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Intermediate Care (IMC) position requiring active IL licensure and strong telemetry and cardiac monitoring skills.

Responsibilities

• Work in the Intermediate Care (IMC)/Stepdown/PCU unit of an acute care hospital
• Level I trauma center and Magnet-recognized teaching hospital
• Night shifts available: 3x12 or 4x12 hours (18:45-07:15), every other weekend required
• Caring for diverse patient populations, including neuro, cardiac, orthopedic, and trauma cases
• Patient care includes telemetry monitoring and management of complex, high acuity cases
• Will float within scope to comparable units as needed
• Cerner EMR is used, with experience preferred
• Responsibilities include caring for patients with complex neurological, cardiac, respiratory, orthopedic, and surgical needs
• Role involves participation in rapid response and use of a variety of specialized equipment and interventions
• Teamwork within multidisciplinary teams is essential in this high-acuity, dynamic environment
• Scrubs may be any solid color
• Parking permit is required but provided at no cost; processed during orientation
• RTO ideally limited to no more than 5 days per contract
• Local candidates are accepted without radius restrictions

Requirements

• Active, unencumbered IL RN license required at time of application
• Minimum 1 year of IMC, Telemetry, Neuro Stepdown, PCU/DOU, or Stepdown RN experience
• Current certifications: BLS and NIHSS required; ACLS preferred
• Strong skills in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, telemetry, and rapid response
• Must be experienced with post-cardiac and vascular procedures, including sheaths and TR band care
• Competency in hemodialysis management, central and peripheral line care, blood product administration, and IV therapy
• Proficient in care for ventilated patients, chest tubes, high flow nasal cannula, tracheostomy management, and ABG interpretation
• Experience with wound care, wound vacs, isolation precautions, and critical medication management including titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
• Teaching hospital, Level I trauma, and Cerner charting experience preferred
• First-time travelers are not eligible for this assignment
