Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position on night shifts in an acute Level II trauma setting, requiring an active NE or compact RN license and BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Work in an acute hospital setting on Med/Surg Telemetry units located on 7W, 7E, and 5E floors
• Patient population is primarily adults, with rare pediatric cases (approximately 1-5 per year)
• Common diagnoses include post-surgical care, diabetes, heart failure, hypertension, weakness, and cancer
• The unit has 60 beds with a typical RN-to-patient ratio of 1:5
• Uses Epic EMR and Alaris IV pumps
• 12-hour night shifts with a schedule of every other weekend required
• Floating required to nearby units including 6E, acute rehab, and geriatric psych
• Provide direct nursing care for a diverse adult patient population with occasional pediatric care
• Must be able to float between defined units based on patient and staffing needs
• A pass/fail open book skills exam is required during orientation; failure to pass will result in contract termination
• Navy scrubs are required for this assignment
• Artificial nails are prohibited for all patient care providers; refusal to remove results in contract termination
• Team members are expected to embrace a positive, supportive attitude and provide culturally inclusive care
• COVID-19 vaccination status must be provided
• Schedule includes holiday rotations as assigned

Requirements

• Active NE or compact (NLC) RN license required at time of application
• Minimum 2 years recent Med/Surg Telemetry nursing experience required
• BLS certification required
• Ability to pass a skills and orientation exam with a minimum score of 90%
• Experience with Epic EMR and Alaris IV pumps preferred
• Driver's license required for permanent address verification
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility as determined by driver’s license
• Candidates may not currently be or have been employed (FT, PT, PRN) by CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facilities within the past year
