Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position in Iowa requiring prior travel experience and strong telemetry skills.

Responsibilities

• Position is in a 25-bed Med/Surg Tele unit in a hospital setting
• Tele tech monitoring unit with 1:5-6 nurse-to-patient ratios
• Night shifts, working 4x12 hours per week with every other weekend and holiday rotation required
• No call responsibilities
• Will float across Med Surg units including post-op
• Care involves post-op surgical patients, including EGD, colonoscopy, cardiac cath, pacemaker, and minor surgery cases
• Infusions and drips include heparin, insulin, diuretics, amiodarone, diltiazem, and 3% saline
• Epic EMR system is used and required
• Daily responsibilities include comprehensive telemetry and post-op care for a range of surgical and medical patients
• Must work as part of a multidisciplinary team and be comfortable floating to similar units as needed
• Holiday coverage is required as part of the rotation
• Compliance with RTO guidelines regarding requests for days off during peak holiday periods is expected

Requirements

• Active IA or compact RN license required at time of consideration
• Current AHA or ARC ACLS and BLS certifications required
• Minimum 24 months of recent Med/Surg, Tele, or Med/Tele experience required
• Prior post-op surgical care experience with EGD, colonoscopy, cardiac cath, and pacemaker required
• Experience required with administration and titration of heparin, insulin, diuretics, amiodarone, diltiazem, and 3% saline drips
• Must be able to confidently read EKG/ECG and handle all telemetry responsibilities
• Experience with Epic EMR is required
• Driver’s license required for consideration
• Skills checklist specific to Med/Surg, Tele, or Med/Tele must be current
• Professional supervisory reference from within the last 24 months preferred
• Previous completion of a travel assignment within the past 12 months required
• First-time travelers will not be considered
