Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Oncology position working with mixed acuity and bone marrow transplant patients, requiring an OH or compact RN license and at least 1 year of MS and oncology experience.
Responsibilities
- Work in a hospital Oncology unit with mixed acuity PCU and Medical-Surgical cases
- Patient population includes hematologic malignancies and complex oncology diagnoses such as leukemias, lymphomas, amyloidosis, and multiple myeloma
- Specialized in bone marrow transplants (autologous, syngeneic, allogeneic) and CAR-T therapy
- Day (3x12 hours, 7:00-19:30) and night (3x12 hours, 19:00-7:30) shifts available
- Responsibilities include monitoring diverse oncology patients, administering treatments, and supporting complex procedures such as stem cell transplants
- Teamwork emphasized with multidisciplinary care and frequent use of rapid response protocols
- Central line and PICC management required as part of daily patient care
- No break required between assignments for travelers except for Sterile Processing Techs
- Documented recent supervisor references may be requested during onboarding
Requirements
- Active OH or compact RN license required
- Minimum 1 year of recent Medical-Surgical and oncology nursing experience
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- Skills in telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and rapid response team activation
- Experience with feeding tube management, blood product administration, and central and peripheral line care and management
- Heme Onc experience strongly preferred
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and ONS Chemotherapy/Oncology certification preferred, but not required
