Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position requiring 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience and BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications.

Responsibilities

• Work in a 14-bed Medical Telemetry unit within a hospital setting
• Transitioning to PCU focus with patient types including heart failure, chest pain, fluid resuscitation, COPD, post-cardiac cath, and medical overflow
• Patient ratio ranges from 1:4-6 for Med/Surg Tele and 1:4 for PCU, with occasional surge ratios up to 1:7-8 based on acuity
• Uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell med dispensing, Phillips monitors, and unit-specific equipment such as bladder scanner and transport monitor
• Remote arrhythmia center for telemetry monitoring with on-unit EKG visibility
• Required to work 12-hour night shifts (1845-0715) with a 6-week schedule cycle
• Required to work every other weekend and 75% of holidays
• Floating may be required to other facilities within Region 1 and within scope of practice
• No on-call responsibilities
• Support team includes CNAs for patient care, a charge nurse, IV/VAT team, and 24/7 respiratory therapy and hospitalist coverage
• Department has a professional, team-oriented culture

• May request up to 6 days off (not including holidays); additional days require extending the contract to fulfill hours

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license
• Minimum of 18 months recent Med/Tele RN experience
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
• Experience with Epic EMR preferred
• Proficiency in PIV starts, NG tube management, pleurx/chest drain management, cardiac rhythm interpretation, and non-titratable cardiac drips
• Will not accept first-time travelers
• Permanent address must be at least 50 miles from the home unit
