Description

Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position in a teaching hospital, requiring a NC or compact RN license and at least one year of recent med/surg experience.

Responsibilities

Work in a 36-bed Med/Surg Telemetry unit within a teaching hospital
General med/surg and post-op patient population including bariatric, orthopedic, and trauma surgical cases
Typical RN patient ratio is 1:6
Uses Encompass/EPIC EMR and Philips MX-40 telemetry equipment
12-hour night shifts from 1900-0730
Every other weekend required
Travelers expected to work 75% of holidays
No on-call required
Floating to sister med/surg units (7N and 7S) with similar ratios and expectations
Support includes CNAs, charge nurse, 24/7 respiratory therapy, hospitalist and intensivist coverage, dedicated phlebotomy staff, and telemetry monitoring techs
Two-day unit orientation in addition to facility orientation provided
Royal blue scrubs are required for this position
Team culture is described as supportive with strong leadership
Free parking available on site
Requests for time off must be approved by Resource Team

Requirements

Active NC or compact RN license in hand
Minimum of 1 year recent med/surg nursing experience required
Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
NIHSS certification required for Resource Team consideration
Experience with general med/surg patient care and basic telemetry
Previous travel nursing experience required; first-time travelers will not be considered
