Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced OR RN with an active IL license and strong vascular, ophthalmology, and general OR skills.

Responsibilities

• Position is based in the Operating Room of an acute care teaching and magnet hospital
• Day shift schedule, 5x8s (07:00–15:30)
• Call shifts are pre-assigned, with 1–2 shifts per week required
• Requires working 2–3 weekend days per 8-week schedule
• Holiday call assignments or coverage may be required
• 1:1 nurse-to-patient ratio for all shifts
• Performs various cases including vascular, ophthalmology, general, urology, and trauma-related procedures
• Uses Epic for charting
• Scrubs are provided
• Responsibilities include scrubbing and circulating on a variety of specialized surgical cases
• Role involves handling cardiac monitoring, infection control, blood product administration, specimen labeling, laser and radiation safety, and enforcing Universal Protocol (Time Out)
• Supportive team environment in a Level II trauma center
• First-time travelers are accepted
• No local radius restrictions for candidates
• Free parking is available onsite
• Ideally, requested time off should not exceed 5 days during the assignment

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required at time of application
• Minimum of 2 years of operating room RN experience required
• BLS certification required, CNOR preferred
• Experience in vascular, ophthalmology, general surgery, and urology required
• Proficiency in scrubbing and circulating for DaVinci robotic and ophthalmology cases preferred
• Experience with endo/laparoscopic procedures and trauma amputation required
• Familiarity with electrosurgical units and fiber optic light sources/cords required
• Experience with Epic EMR preferred
• Pending licenses not accepted
