Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night-shift Intermediate Care (IMC) position requiring neuro stepdown and cardiac telemetry expertise and an active SC or compact RN license.

Responsibilities

• Work in a 24-bed Adult Intermediate Care (IMC) unit within a hospital setting
• Patient population consists of adults requiring neuro stepdown and cardiac telemetry
• Typical nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:4-5
• Night shifts are scheduled as 3x12 hour shifts, 19:00–07:30
• Every other weekend is required
• Use of telemetry monitoring and EPIC EMR (1 year minimum EPIC experience required)
• Required to float to other qualified units or campuses as needed
• Responsibilities include neuro stepdown and cardiac telemetry patient care, including performing IV starts, central line care, and managing telemetry
• Care for adult patients post-MI, post-cardiac catheterization, and with dysrhythmias
• Manage respiratory care including trach, chest tube, and non-invasive support
• Practice includes GI care, feeding tube management, and medication administration for cardiac/vasoactive needs
• Participate in wound care, isolation precautions, renal failure support, and rapid response
• Staff must float only to areas where they are qualified and have demonstrated competencies
• Not open to first-time travelers
• Travelers must reside at least 50 miles from the contracted campus to be eligible
• Holiday coverage may be required per unit needs

Requirements

• Active SC or compact multistate RN license required at the time of application
• At least 1 year of recent IMC, neuro stepdown, or cardiac telemetry experience
• Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Proficiency in IV starts, port access, PICC and central/peripheral line care, and blood product administration
• Experience with trach management, various oxygen delivery methods, chest tubes, ABG interpretation, feeding tube management, and non-invasive respiratory support
• Competency in PCA, procedural sedation, heparin protocols, and managing cardiac/vasoactive drips (no titration)
• Experience in dysrhythmia management and interpretation, wound care/wound vac, renal failure, pre/post hemodialysis, and rapid response
• Minimum one year of experience using EPIC charting required
• Two current professional references required for consideration
