Job Description
American Traveler is seeking a Physical Therapist with at least 2 years of experience and an active Alaska PT license to provide both inpatient and outpatient services.
Responsibilities
- Position is based in a 25-bed critical access hospital with rotations through multiple care settings including inpatient, outpatient, community events, off-site clinics, and home visits
- Typical schedule is days with rotations through weekends
- Physical therapy services include evaluation, treatment planning, and interventions for a diverse patient population across a wide range of ages and diagnoses
- Occasional travel to remote communities by boat or small plane, possibly involving multiple days and harsh weather
- Directs work of support staff, students, or interns as needed
- Primary duties include patient assessment, developing and implementing individualized plans of care, and providing PT interventions to optimize functional outcomes
- Frequent collaboration with interdisciplinary care teams, attending care conferences, and ensuring appropriate patient equipment and discharge planning
- Role may involve participation in program development, quality improvement, and staff education initiatives
- Candidate must demonstrate effective communication across diverse populations and maintain sensitivity to cross-cultural issues
- Maintains accurate and timely documentation in accordance with hospital standards and APTA guidelines
- May require use of laptops, tablets, imaging devices, and hospital EMR systems
- Exposure risk to infectious organisms and latex is possible; appropriate precautions and PPE are required
- Position covered under the Indian Child Protection Act
Requirements
- Current Alaska Physical Therapist license required at time of application (license required if applicable)
- Minimum of 2 years of recent, relevant PT experience
- Entry-level qualifying master's or doctorate degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program, or baccalaureate degree with documented continuing education and relevant work experience
- Current BLS certification required
- Valid driver’s license required
- Two fingerprint cards must be submitted at time of acceptance
- Must have flu vaccination documentation
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting up to 50 pounds and assisting patient mobility
