Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an ICU/PCU float position requiring ICU competency and Epic charting experience.

Responsibilities

• Position involves floating between all ICU and PCU units within a large hospital setting
• Day shifts with a 3x12 schedule, 6:45 am to 7:15 pm
• Patient ratios average 2:1 in ICU and 5:1 in PCU
• Potential to float as frequently as every 4 hours, up to 2-3 times per shift
• Weekend coverage required, either every other weekend or a minimum of 6 weekend shifts in six weeks
• Must work at least one holiday during the 13-week contract
• Epic EMR experience is required for this position
• Role involves frequent floating between ICU and PCU units based on staffing needs
• Must include all requested time off with application
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• The hospital is a large, acute care Level 1 trauma center with advanced specialty care
• Must be comfortable in a high-acuity, fast-paced teaching hospital environment

Requirements

• Active VA or Compact RN license required; pending license accepted if from a non-compact state
• Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience preferred
• Previous experience in a large Level 1 or 2 trauma facility required
• Proficient in IV therapy, arterial and central line management, PICC line care, and blood product administration
• Competency with BiPAP & CPAP management and ventilated patient care required
• Experience administering continuous IV sedation, emergency medication, and titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
• Ability to interpret and manage cardiac dysrhythmias
• Skilled in wound care, including care of surgical wounds with drains or wound vacs
• Demonstrated proficiency with IV insulin protocol adherence
• Two professional references are required for consideration
